EXHIBITION

Artist: Leang Seckon

Date: Jan 12 - Mar 11, 2025

Location: National Museum

𖠁 As anticipation builds for Leang Seckon’s solo exhibition “Golden Earth” at the National Museum in Phnom Penh, running from January 12 to March 11, 2025, the mixed-media artist will showcase 18 unique works—a notable first for a Khmer artist. Most of these vibrant pieces were created in 2024, merging painting with textile collages.

Seckon’s art delves into the myriad emotions experienced by humanity, focusing particularly on Cambodia’s natural resources, cultural heritage, and the simple lives of its people. For Seckon, who grew up during the harsh Khmer Rouge regime, “Golden Earth” symbolizes the profound significance of his homeland and reflects the Mekong River’s vital role in Cambodian livelihood. He likens the river to the multi-headed dragon Vasuki, representing the flow of life and cultural richness

His works serve as a call for peace and friendship, emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability. Through these creations, Seckon aims to express his love for his homeland and hopes for the future. This exhibition holds great significance for him, marking 24 years of dedication to the arts.
